Location: Koenji Station on the Sobu Line from Mitaka Station
               (The JR Chuo Line won’t stop at Koenji Station on weekends.)
“Dancing fool, watching fool. Both are the same fool, so why don’t you dance?” This is the well-known phrase chanted during the dance performance.

The Dark Night Festival in Fuchu (Kurayami Matsuri)

Date: May 3-5   
Location: Ookuni-Tama Shrine in Fuchu
3-minute walk from Fuchu Sta. on the Keio Line and twenty minutes by bike from ASIJ

May 3,   6-8pm Ten festival floats with musical accompaniment will compete with each other.
May 3,   8pm- Komakurabe-shiki(Horse riding ceremony) Six horses will race along a zelkova-tree-lined path.
   
 
May 4,   12:15-1:30pm        Children’s mikoshi(portable shrine) parade and the mando(literally means ”ten thousand lanterns”) performance contest   
   
 
May 4,   5-6pm      Taiko performance              
     
 
May 4,   6-9pm Twenty-one Float Parade

 
 
May 5,   2:30pm-  The grand taiko of each shrine is dispatched from each community and ceremoniously sent to the shrine grounds.

 
May 5,   6-9pm  
 The biggest excitement of the parade comes from valiant sparks exchanged between the huge drums and their players and the gallant mikoshi and their carriers. The parade slowly heads toward the turn-round point called otabisho located at the crossing of Kyu-Koshu Kaido Avenue and Fuchu Kaido Avenue.
It will be J-com live on the air from 5:30pm-10pm

Kyodo no mori Plum Festival

Date & Time: Feb.1-Mar.8    9am-5pm(the gate closes at 4pm)
Location: 10min. by car from Kunitachi Fuchu IC or take a bus from Fuchu Station and get off at “Kyodo no mori seimon mae”
Entrance fee: Adult-200yen, Middle school student and under-100yen
* There will be a ceramic market Feb. 21- Mar. 1
* There will be a parade with Taiko drums, portable shrines, Japanese folk dances etc. on March 8 from 11:30am .

Yoshino Baigo Plum Festival

It’s the beautiful season to see red and white plum blossoms. The fragrance fills all over Japan and announces the arrival of spring.
Date & Time: March 15, 10am-4pm
Direction: Take Ome Line and get off at Hinatawada Station. There will be a parade with police cavalry, Taiko drums, portable shrines, Japanese folk dances and so on.
